Don Webster was a native Oklahoman whose interest in wildlife was a great influence on his work. Although most of his career was been in the field of music, he felt a relationship between music and sculpture.
Don earned his music degrees from Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma University and studied sculpture at the University of Tulsa. He was a high school band director and public school administrator before becoming a full-time artist.
In his sculpture career, Don was a guest artist in the National Academy of Western Art exhibition at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. He had done several commissions, including an outdoor piece, "Freedom", at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico. He was a member of the Society of Animal Artists and the Oklahoma Sculpture Society.
Don Webster passed away April 20, 2017 at the age of 89. His wife, Merlene, continues to live in Pryor, Oklahoma. Don's work will continue to be shown in art galleries across the United States. His pieces are in public and private collections in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
